Have you ever stayed on old zoo grounds? Pretty unique, huh! You can when you stay overnights at the Long Neck Inn, the former Catskill Game Farm. Once a 150 acre zoo with all types of animals, now the site hosts the Inn (five guest rooms). Plus, there are four upscale glamping sites! What Gabby Loves About This Space

The concept and theme of this place is so interesting. I wonder who thought of the idea of turning the zoo into an Inn and glamping accommodations — if you visit and find out the answer, let me know! What I love most are the charming glamping areas…it’s such a comfortable, immersive way to explore the Catskills.

A home away from home! The Red Cottage is a unique bed and breakfast in the heart of peaceful historic Slingerlands. The 3-acre parcel is home to the Innkeeper’s house and the Red Cottage where guests are welcomed with open arms. The cottage is surrounded by old trees and gardens, and the interior decorated with period pieces and contemporary artisan crafts.

What Gabby Loves About This Space

The Red Cottage caught my attention when I heard about their breakfasts. Their focus is on fresh, healthy, locally sourced, organic and seasonal. And my admiration deepened when I learned they source their local blue/green eggs from a nearby CSA, served with artisan breads. Okay, so where do I sign up? Look for the plat du jour offered in the main house on some evenings – depending on the whim of the cook. The ambiance of this place, plus their emphasis on good local food, is a win-win for me.
